Energy Conservation

Lighting retrofits offer many benefits for building owners, building users & Electric utilities. Among the most important are reduced electricity demand, significant energy savings & lower building operating costs.

Lighting accounts for 30-35% of electricity use in commercial buildings. High efficiency lighting retrofit projects can cost effectively save from 30-50% of this energy while enhancing the visual environment& improving lighting quality. The payback period of most lighting retrofits are less than 5 year. Indeed in many cases the simple pay back occurs in 3 year. When occupant satisfaction & worker productivity are factored into economic analysis, lighting improvements produce immediate benefits.

Power Generation Through Renewable Sources

The current use of fossil fuels as our main energy source has two drawbacks: their inevitable depletion and the pollution associated with combustion. These two drawbacks in addition to the growing concern of global warming has pushed for the development of more sustainable sources of energy, namely solar energy and its derivatives. Solar energy is appealing for its potential to meet all our demands, while proving to be a pollution free resource.

Energy Management

Energy management is the process of monitoring, controlling, and conserving energy in a building or organization. Energy can be conserved by reducing wastage and losses, improving efficiency through technological upgrades and improved operation and maintenance.

Why is it important?

Energy management is the key to save energy. Much of the importance of energy saving stems from the global need to save energy - this global need affects energy prices, emissions targets, and legislation, all of which lead to several compelling reasons why we should save energy.

Objective of Energy Management

  1. Improving energy efficiency & reducing energy use, thereby reducing costs.
  2. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions & improve air quality.
  3. Developing and maintaining effective monitoring, reporting & management strategies for wise energy usage.
  4. Finding new & better ways to increase returns from energy investments through research & development.

Energy Management typically involves the following steps

  1. Metering your energy consumption and collecting the data.
  2. Finding opportunities to save energy, and estimating how muchenergy each opportunity could save.
  3. Taking action to target the opportunities to save energy (i.e. tackling the routine waste and replacing or upgrading the inefficient equipment).
  4. Tracking your progress by analyzing your meter data to see how well your energy-saving measures have worked.
